I hope you are ready for a challenge with the August 2021 lap piecing block call “Cross and Crown”.
The block does have a “quick piecing” section that will help you control and precisely start the flower tips of the lilies. Since there are so many pieced parts to the block you have to be very precise in cutting and marking and piecing the block together so it will measure 12 1/2″ when completed.
Pick 3 different colors for your block. One is the lily, one is the cross and background and one is the colorful center square.
When laying out the lily tips you will see the triangle D is marked with the long edge of the triangle on the straight of grain. The other thing to take note of is you will need 8 drawn lily tips, 4 in one direction and 4 in the opposite direction. I have laid out the block quick piecing and marked the sewn areas with dotted lines.
The rest of the templates are cut and laid out to form the lily “Triangle F” and cross “Rectangle I” and the corners and center “Square F”.
We will piece the block in our club session. Bring your quick piece area drawn and be ready to sew.
