Fabric Purses and Wallets

I have been having fun creating quilted fabric wallets and purses along with my Hancock students.  I keep finding fabrics that inspire me and the next thing you know, I am quilting fabric to make another custom gift for some lucky friend.

The fabric wallet and purse are great beginner projects and are so easy to do I recommend anyone who would like to explore sewing again to spend a day trying these projects. The first thing we do in class is pick out the fabric and trim. Next we mark and quilt the fabric using the walking foot. I give everyone a free pattern and we use this guide to draw the cutting lines on the quilted fabric. After we cut out the pieces the edges are serged to give a nice finished look. I provide the serger for you to use. Next we spend the remaining class time constructing the pockets and inserting the zippers and handles and trim. by the time you leave class you have a finish purse or wallet.

Hope to see you in class soon.
