I feel blessed to be covid free and vaccinated and ready to welcome sewers and quilter’s to my classroom. To start the quilt progress I suggest several “one on one” classes.
Jenny’s Sewing Studio is ready to welcome new quilters into class. You can schedule a 2 hour session to start your quilt journey! Learn the basics of making templates, building blocks and creating a lap quilt to fit whatever size you wish. Lap quilting is very flexible, that is what I love about it. You can learn the basic piecing techniques, learn to border and create 18 1/2″ blocks and then start putting the blocks together to create a baby size, lap robe, twin, double, queen or king size quilt.
Since some of my students are at various stages in piecing and quilting, I suggest anyone who is “new” to the Lap Quilting group to start with a few “one on one” sessions that can be scheduled any free day. Just email me at jenny@jennys-sewing-studio.com . These sessions are only $30 for 2 hours. Click here to enroll.
Once you get started with the quilt planning and construction process you can join others to share in the creation of more quilt blocks. Monthly block themes will be announced to the clubs and for $5.00 a month you can register to attend. Our first club meeting is Thursday May 20th at 2-4pm or May 22nd at 2-4pm will be the sailboat block.
I invite all my previous quilters who have taken lessons on the Lap quilting basics ( Scrappy quilters and Sew Fly quilters) like fabric requirements, making templates, and piecing the 4 patch block, to resume your quilting interrupted by covid restrictions and to join us once a month. Please register at this link.
We will be skipping the month of June since I am scheduled for back surgery on June 11th. I will start the club meetings in May with the sailboat block and then skip to the third Thursday and Saturday of the month in July. I suggest you schedule your “one on one” quilt instruction in May 2021 if you are new to the group to get started on the planning of your quilt. Learn how to much fabric to buy and how to make templates and create basic blocks.
If you have already started on your lap quilt from a previous session before the covid restriction, I am taking club members on a limited enrollment basis so please reserve your spot in club now as it will be on a first come basis. I look forward to seeing everyone again!
Please note: if everyone has had the covid vaccination in a session, we can meet without a mask but I will still distance you in class to 4 to 5 students per session.
Additional note is the sailboat pictures are internet designs. We will be using the Georgia Bonesteel pattern found in the quilt book.. Lap Quilting with Georgia Bonesteel. Once you enroll, I will send you instructions on what to bring to the session and you can reserve a machine for class if one is available to use.
