Sewing Machine Basics– Learn the basics of using your machine. We will wind a bobbin, thread the machine and work on the stitch functions. Please make sure you bring your instruction book with the machine. Learn the blind hem, appliqué, mending stitch, buttonhole, sewing on buttons, over edge, and more. Bring thread, your machine and scissors plus your book. Fabrics and materials will be provided. 2 hours one on one. Fee payable on-line is $40.00
Serger Sewing Basics – Learn to thread and use your serger. We will cover the ¾ spool stitch, flat lock and narrow roll hem. You will practice the stitches and make a few projects as you learn. Make sure you bring your serger and instruction manual, 4 cones of thread ( prefer one cone of yellow, blue, red and green) scissors, and tweezers. Fabrics and materials will be provided. 2 hours one on one. Fee payable on-line is $40.00
Embroidery Machine Basics– This is a great basic class to learn to use your embroidery machine. Learn where to start with embroidery. Bring your machine USB thumb drive to class. We will cover stabilizers, threads, marking and positioning tools, templates, and give you some great ideas to try with your machine. Demonstration will include a generic embroidery software that will work with all machines. We will practice one transfer and a monogram. 2 hours one on one. Fee payable on-line is $40.00
Beginner Sewing Basics – Here is a description of how you will learn to sew. Everyone is different so time is approximate. It is suggested you schedule this session in 2 weeks. Lesson 1 will take 3 hours and lesson 2 will take 3 hours. Please bring the apron pattern Simplicity 2319 and 1 3/4 yard of quilter’s cotton broadcloth fabric to lesson one. Also bring one small spool of all-purpose sewing thread.
Step 1 – Learn to use your sewing machine to do basic sewing. Learn to sew seams, pivot, clip corners, stuff, hand stitch, insert a zipper. You will make 2 projects in the class: a pin cushion and a zipper pouch. We will read your pattern and prepare it for layout. 3 hours. 1:30-4:30pm
Step 2 – Make an apron – Learn to read a pattern and guide sheet, layout the fabric and cut out the apron. Follow the guide sheet and complete the apron. 3 hours. 1:30-4:30pm 2-3 hour sessions in 2 weeks – register on line, fee $100.00.
Continue Sewing!! Continue sewing and get help making more sewn items. Get help with collars, cuffs, buttonholes, setting in sleeves and more. Suggest you cut out the garment before class to get the maximum from the session. Sign up for a 3 hour session from 1:30 to 4:30pm – Tell me the day you wish to come on and I will email you confirmation. $50.00 for a 3 hour session.
Singer Futura! Class will be scheduled 10:00 am till 4:30 pm with one hour scheduled for lunch break. The cost is $80.00. Materials provided include stabilizer, bobbin thread, needles, and project materials. I have a Futura Quintet and laptop that I will provide for you to use. All the technique and software is the same on all Futura’s so supplying the machine will make the class easier for both of us. Please bring a thumb drive so files can be copied to the drive. We will design the class for you. Basic information on stabilizers, files saving, the base software, auto punch, lettering, hyper font, advanced editing, photo stitch and cross stitch can be covered. We can do the endless hoop and multi-hooping. You pick 4 basic subjects involving the Futura and I will try to cover it all.
Home Decorating Basics- Beginners welcome! Learn to put in a zipper and make a piped pillow, try a cording foot, do some binding. This class will give you some skills to use in projects you make for the home. Bring 1 ¼” yard of a pillow fabric, matching thread and 2 yds of 5/32” cord and a 24 “ zipper to make your 16” piped pillow. $40.00 for a 3 hour session
Quilted Fabric Purse – Learn to make a Designer looking handbag and quilt your own fabric. This is an all day class. You will need:
1 yd prequilted single faced fabric for lining, 3/4 yard of trim fabric.
5 to 6- 1/4 yard coordinating prints (No Fat Quarters)
This will create a lovely strip pieced purse.
Bring matching and contrast thread plus one 22?zipper and one 18? zipper. Bring your sewing machine and a walking foot if you have one. $60.00 for a session from 10:00 to 4:30pm
New! Learn to quilt by Machine– Learn to stipple and use the walking foot. You will need 1 yard of off white quilter’s solid broadcloth, 1 spool of off white thread about 2 shades darker than fabric and 1 yard of fusible fleece plus one wash away marker. Please enroll at least 1 week before the start date. We will need your machine make and model number to fit your machine for a free motion foot and a walking foot. Using an off white broad cloth we will learn to do free motion machine quilting and create a pillow top. $40.00 for a 2 hour session
If you have an unfinished quilt from one of our quilt classes , you can learn to quilt and bind the quilt in this class. This would be a substitute for the free motion project. Bring enough pre quilted single faced fabric to cover the back of your quilt and 5/8 yd for binding.
Beginner Crochet skills– Learn to chain, single, double, half double, and triple crochet. Learn the basic granny square. You will need one ball of a worsted weight yarn in any color for Practice. Bring crochet hook in size 8. 1-2 hour session $40.00
Beginner Knitting skills– In 2 hours learn to cast on knit, purl, decrease and increase. Make a knit swatch for gauge. You will need one ball of worsted weight yarn in any color for practice. Bring knitting needles in US 8. 1-2 hour session $40.00
