Skip jack models at Jenny’s Sewing Studio

Gray Friedel made a hobby of crafting local skip jacks. Skip jacks are sailing work boats that are used to harvest oysters on the Chesapeake bay. Pictured below are the Millie B and the Yankee Peddler. The Millie B was a gift to Gray’s son. The Yankee Peddler was a commission and is crafted after a real miniature skip jacket located in Oxford, MD.

Gray is retired from Jenny’s Sewing Studio and is my dad. Dad repaired all our sewing machines for 26 years. The skip jacks models are a nice change of pace. My Dad passed in 2014.  See his models below. You can click on the picture to enlarge it.
