Lap Quilter’s invited to start “Giving Thanks” Quilt

On Thursday October 1st I invite the Lap Quilter’s to start the “Give Thanks” quilt. Since the Piecemaker goup enrollment is low right now, I invite any Lap Quilter who wishes to begin this project to join me Thursday October 1st at 2-4pm for a start to our first quilt block. I have been experimenting and have decided we will do the free motion applique technique. We may not be stitching this month, but we will be cutting. I will supply a few Cabbage Rose prints for you to pick from and show you my ideas. Bring precut muslin or white background and it should be about 18 1/2″.  We will be cutting and fusing. You will then be able to go home and create the background scene for us to embellish in November.

For the future you will need about 3 or 4 yards of a white background and batting. We will be coloring with permanent markers. I will supply some for you to try but you will need your own. I will also be showing you how to transfer photos and prints to fabric and explain where to purchase the supplies on line. You will need thread for quilting in matching and contrast colors. You can use my machine in class if their is one available.

When we free motion applique you will find the technique very easy. We will practice everything in November. The block will be stitched and quilted at the same time.

I have also purchased some printed fabric affirmations and verses I will show you. I think we will border the verses and I will share some of my purchases for a small fee.

I plan to make several Angel wall quilts for Christmas. They will be small but I think they will make great gifts.

I hope to see you there! Let me know if you are coming.
