I am sorry to hear on Thursday November 5th Steve White passed away at his home in Parsonsburg. Here is an article from Delmarva now….
Steve was know for many creative talents. He was the fire chief in Parsonsburg and an EMT. I knew Steve for his work with sewing machine repair. He worked for several years part time in our Salisbury, MD store, Jenny’s Sewing Studio, with my Dad Gray Friedel repairing sewing machine and sergers. He was know as the serger expert and his golden touch could fix any serger we had a problem with. My condolences to his family and friends. It was a pleasure to have known Steve and he will be missed.
“Longtime Parsonsburg Fire Chief Steve White, whose earnest and tireless efforts successfully helped erect a new firehouse for volunteers in far eastern Wicomico County, has died, the Parsonsburg Volunteer Fire Co., has confirmed.
White died at his home in Parsonsburg on Thursday, Nov. 5, after an illness. He was 60.
He was chief of the Parsonsburg fire company 20 years, and, fallen to illness in recent months, turned over his duties to Interim Fire Chief Eric Tyler.
“He was an all-around good person who did a lot for firefighters,” said a mourning volunteer at the firehouse Thursday afternoon. “He was instrumental in getting the firehouse built. We’ve lost one of the best chiefs we’ve ever had.”
White’s family along with members of the Parsonsburg fire company plan a public announcement about his death and to reflect on his life and achievements at a special gathering Saturday at the new firehouse that opened five years ago, said Tyler. White’s family, he said, has requested privacy until then.”
