Lap Quilting for October 2019 and plans for the New Year of 2020

The Lap Quilting Club has been actively working to complete a quilt for 2019.

Some members have over 20 blocks pieced and are working hard to border and quilt the blocks. In November and December the group will learn to assemble and to bind and finish the lap quilt. Each member will only need 2 completed and quilted blocks to learn the technique. In 2020 I plan to continue introducing new block ideas to the group. Some thoughts are paper piecing, stars and applique wreaths and baskets. As you may know, the subject of quilting is vast. Lap Quilt allows each member to explore may techniques they can apply for future quilts. I hope to see all members continue in the New Year. I have enjoyed the challenges of each step we have taken.

Reminder to our 2019 Lap Quilters

On October 31st we will piece the Kings Cross block on page 15 of the Lap Quilt book. Please cut fabrics for the block using your templates. You will need 3 different fabrics for contrast. The book calls for Triangle H 8 print pieces and Trapezoid A 4 light and 4 dark. If you have the fabric, cut 2 of this block and we will play with the layout. Please do not sew the block templates before class, thanks!

I Invite anyone who would like to start the Lap Quilt series

of monthly meetings to make plans to start from the very beginning on the 2nd Thursday of the month starting January 9th from 2:00 till 4:00pm. The outline for the club will be the same as the 2019 group. I have recently added a Lap Quilt tab to my web site so you can read about the fun of Lap Quilting. Please enroll and reserve a spot for only $5.00 per session. Pay for each month in advance and I will send you the materials list you need to bring for the session. Hope to see you in 2020.
